Photograph showing the hole at the top of the head of the Great Sphinx of Giza, documented around 1930 during excavation and restoration work by Émile Baraize and later published in Archives Lacau (2017).
View west from the top of the Sphinx's head, with the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure in the background.
Photographs taken around 1930 during Émile Baraize's excavation and restoration work on the Great Sphinx confirm earlier travellers' reports that a hole existed in the top of the Sphinx's head.
