Denkmäler aus Aegypten und Aethiopien which translates as Monuments from Egypt and Ethiopia is a 12 volume work by Karl Richard Lepsius. Lepsius made detailed records of inscriptions, landscapes, monuments and more during a 4 year tour of the area from 1842-1845.

Of particular interest is his illustration of the small chapel or temple between the forelegs of the Great Sphinx which can be found on page 32 at TAFELWERKE/ABTHEILUNG I/BAND I - TOPOGRAPHIE & ARCHITEKTUR.

His illustration of the Dream Stela of Thutmose IV which sits at the back of the Sphinx chapel can be found on p69 at TAFELWERKE/ABTHEILUNG III/BAND V - NEUES REICH. Lepsius' record of the partially preserved name of Khafre at the bottom of the stela is one of the only remaining records of this part of the inscription which has subsequently disappeared.

The importance of his work in preserving a great deal of Ancient Egyptian heritage is further illustrated by his record of a scene in the tomb of the vizier Rekhmire of the 18th Dynasty (TAFELWERKE/ABTHEILUNG III/BAND V - NEUES REICH p42) It illustrates the construction of several mounuments, including a sphinx.
