These hieroglyphs represent the name Hor-em-akhet (“Horus in the Horizon”), one of the most common ancient Egyptian names for the Great Sphinx of Giza. The name is first attested in the New Kingdom, particularly during the 18th Dynasty (c. 1500–1300 BCE).
In this inscription, the image of the falcon god Horus appears on the left, followed by the sign for a base or pedestal, and the hieroglyph representing the horizon(akht).
