Construction and Restoration Phases of the Great Sphinx of Giza 

This photograph from Émile Baraize’s excavations in the 1920s shows the Great Sphinx during restoration work, revealing multiple phases of its history. The original Old Kingdom limestone core is visible alongside later additions and repairs, including New Kingdom and Roman interventions.
