Great Sphinx with Missing Nose – Description de l’Égypte (Full Plate) 

Full plate from Description de l’Égypte (published 1822), based on sketches made during Napoleon’s Egyptian expedition (1798–1801), showing the Great Sphinx with its nose already missing. The illustration clearly depicts the extent of the facial damage described in historical accounts such as that of al-Maqrizi.
