Head of Amenemhat III from Bubastis

This illustration shows the head of Amenemhat III of the 12th Dynasty. Egyptologist Ludwig Borchardt suggested that certain features of the Great Sphinx’s face could be compared to statues of this ruler, forming part of a broader debate over the identity of the Sphinx.
